Culvert Crawlers Lunch & Learn
Be Storm Savvy!
Join us on Sunday, July 19, 2026 for a hands-on session on keeping your community’s stormwater culverts clear, safe, and ready for the next big storm.
What are Culvert Crawlers?
Culvert Crawlers is a community-focused program designed to help residents understand, monitor, and help maintain stormwater culverts in their neighborhoods. During this Lunch & Learn, you’ll discover how small, simple actions can reduce localized flooding, protect roads and property, and keep your community safer during storm season.
When residents understand how to spot and report culvert issues, communities can:
- Reduce local flooding and roadway washouts during heavy storms
- Protect homes, businesses, and community spaces from preventable water damage
- Stretch limited municipal resources further by helping staff focus on the right places at the right time
- Build stronger connections between residents and local public works teams
By the end of this Lunch & Learn, you’ll be able to:
- Spot problem culverts : Recognize common signs of blockage, damage, or risky conditions before they turn into bigger issues.
- Understand how stormwater moves: Get a basic overview of how culverts fit into your town’s stormwater system and why they matter.
- Follow safe inspection practices: Learn how to observe culverts safely from a distance, what to avoid, and when to call professionals.
- Report issues effectively: Know exactly who to contact, what information to share, and how to track responses from your town or city.
- Support your community’s resilience: Discover simple ways to organize neighbors, share updates, and stay storm-ready..
This event is ideal for:
- Residents who experience standing water, flooding, or drainage issues near their homes or streets
- Neighborhood association members and community leaders
